Conference village

As part of the 3rd edition of the international Island Biology conference, which will take place in La Réunion from 8 to 13 July 2019, a village of initiatives on biodiversity and conservation will be set up on the 8th and 9th of July. 

The goals of this village are: 

  • to network and present the actors and structures working for the protection, promotion and development of the natural heritage of the Indian Ocean region and Réunion Island ; 

  • highlight the knowledge and skills of stakeholders on regional biodiversity ; 

  • promote the transfer of knowledge and raise public awareness of environmental protection issues ; 

  • create a space for exchange between biodiversity stakeholders ; 

  • present conservation issues through public speakers ; 

  • produce materials and propose activities to promote knowledge and experiences. 

This Village will have different spaces: 

  • information stands (a space of 5 to 10 m2 is provided, with table and chair - number of places is limited) ;

  • a space for short live lectures (10 min) ;

  • a space for interviews ;

  • the ability to install banners, displays, kakemono of projects that do not require a stand. 

The Village des Initiatives will allow attendees to exchange with each other but also with regional and local actors as well as students, the public or the international experts present during the Island Biology conference. 

NGOs, publishers, start-ups, young scientists from Réunion and professional partners in the region who contribute to  conservation and development of educational tourism and expertise in environmental engineering of the biodiversity of the Indian Ocean region will be able to come and interact with the regional actors present.

Important note: a registration at the Village does not give access to the Island Biology conference. To attend the conference, a registration is required. 

The Village is funded by Regional council, by INTERREG Océan Indien 2014-2020 program for the project MIMUSOPS “ "Sharing knowledge and promoting marine and terrestrial biodiversity in the Indian Ocean region”, in French " Mutualisation des connaissances et mise en valeur de la biodiversité marine et terrestre de la région océan Indien".

The workshop capacity building is supported by the Sciences, Technologies and Health doctoral school of the University of La Réunion and the NGO VAHATRA.

Dans le cadre de la 3ème édition de la conférence internationale Island Biology, qui se déroulera à La Réunion du 8 au 13 juillet 2019, un village des initiatives sera mis en place les 8 et 9 juillet 2019.  

L'objectif de ce village est de :  

  • mettre en réseau et présenter les acteurs et les structures œuvrant à la protection, à la promotion et au développement du patrimoine naturel de la région océan Indien et de La Réunion; 

  • mettre en valeur les connaissances et savoir-faire des acteurs sur la biodiversité régionale; 

  • favoriser le transfert de connaissance et sensibiliser le grand public aux enjeux de protection des milieux naturels; 

  • créer un espace d’échange des acteurs de la Biodiversité; 

  • présenter les enjeux de conservation par des conférenciers grand public; 

  • produire des supports et proposer des activités pour valoriser les connaissances et les expériences. 

Ce Village aura différents espaces : 

  • des stands d’informations (un espace de 5 à 10 m2 est fourni, avec table et chaise - nombre de places limitées) ;

  • un espace pour la réalisation de courtes conférences en direct (10 min) ;

  • un espace pour la réalisation d’interview par des étudiants du projet e-POP, par les journalistes ;

  • la possibilité d’installer des banderoles, affichages, kakémono de projets ne nécessitant pas de stand ;

Le Village des initiatives va permettre tant aux gens de la zone d’échanger entre eux mais aussi avec les acteurs régionaux et locaux ainsi que les étudiants, le grand public ou encore les experts internationaux présents à cette occasion.  

Les associations, les maisons d'édition, les start-ups, les jeunes scientifiques de La Réunion et les partenaires professionnels de la région qui contribuent à la préservation et la valorisation touristique pédagogique et d’expertise en ingénierie environnementale de la biodiversité de l’océan Indien pourront venir échanger avec les acteurs régionaux présents.

Note importante : une inscription au Village ne donne pas accès à la conférence Island Biology2019. Pour pourvoir assister à la conférence, une inscription est obligatoire.
